Question. Is there some way to change the names of the Clan mechs in-game to their original Clan names? I'm thinking about the way the rebalance mod changes the weapon names to their correct names - i.e., with the Mad Cat labelled as a "Timberwolf" instead of as the IS name for it - "Mad Cat", the "Kit Fox" instead of the "Uller", and so on?

I just think the original names sound better, plus it makes them seem more Clannish(?) with their original names.

Yeah that can be done. But it isn´t worth the amount of time just to have some edited names in the end. And "renaming" isn´t that simple like you may think. Multiple editings have to be done and in the end they may not even show up properly cause some names are only displayed from images - not as text data - even if you as player only see a text showing the name - in most of the cases it´s an image showing the text - so editing names although always means editing several images which are stored deep into *.fst file archives.

So basically, more trouble than it would be worth. No problem, just a thought that popped up.  :D

Here's what I have (List only includes mechs in the game,of course)

Inner Sphere name                   Clan name

Uller                                           Kit Fox
Vulture                                       Mad Dog
Loki                                            Hellbringer
Thor                                           Summoner
MadCat                                       Timberwolf
Masakari                                     Warhawk

* * * * *

Same name used by both

Cougar
Shadow Cat                                It is one of the few invasion-era clan mechs to lack a
                                                 separate Inner Sphere designation; all Inner-Sphere
                                                 pilots who encountered it before the battle of Tukayyid
                                                 died, and Com-Star was informed of its designation
                                                 before that battle, resulting in both sides using the
                                                 same name.
Nova Cat
Turkina

* * * * *

Inner Sphere Mechs with Clan refits

Hunchback II-C                           Inner Sphere refit - keeps the Inner Sphere designation
                                                 with "II-C" tacked on to show it is a clan refit of an
                                                 Inner Sphere mech.

Cougar is a mod of the Adder (IS code-name Puma) chassis. From TRO 3060: "Beginning with a stock chassis from a Clan Adder, Clan Jade Falcon scientists managed to field a virtually new design, code-named the Cougar, in roughly ..."

Turkina is NOT the Dire Wolf (IS code-name Daishi ) or some mod of one. Turkina is very wide with arms up; Dire Wolf is more compact with arms down. (see pics)

***

According to TRO 3060, NovaCat is purely a Clan Nova Cat design. No Jagermech or Rifleman ancestry mentioned. (Although, I believe the Jagermech is an upgrade of the Rifleman, IIRC.)
